Up 21 Foundation
I’m offering up a spiritual adventure to support Up 21:
Welcome to the UP21 Foundation, located in St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana. UP21 is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to provide support, resources and education to families of individuals with Down syndrome and the community to foster an environment in which individuals with Down syndrome achieve their full potential in their community.
They are still working out the kinks but I hope you will consider supporting them.
I’m enjoying using my favorite form of recreation to raise money for various worthy causes – last week we raised $250 for Bayou Community Academy a local charter school. Whose motto is “Come to Learn – Learn to Serve”.
Luke the Gospel in Action 6:1-11 Putting Rest into Action
Many people want no law – no governance and other people want crystal clear law – total governance. The life of faith often lies somewhere in between.
You Can’t Go Your Own Way
I was told today that many people would not get my reference to Stevie Nix in this morning’s sermon:
first of all Stevie is wrong (see Scripture below after the video).
Here it is
Isaiah 58:13-14 13 “If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, 14 then you will find your joy in the LORD, and I will cause you to ride on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” The mouth of the LORD has spoken.
The rest of the sermon will come later this week.
Luke the Gospel in Action 5:17-34 Jesus Friend of Sinners
Yes I stole the title from Casting Crowns but this is a strong reminder to maintain the relationship with God as well as our religion. I felt like at times I was walking on Occam’s Razor as I preached….
